Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

December 19, 2008
Well, it looks like it's going to be a WHITE Christmas, for sure. The snow just keeps coming down. Kent and I ask ourselves on weeks like this- "WHY do we live here?" The older we get, the less we like the cold, winter weather-especially driving in it. But to watch kids in snow is definitely entertaining. Isaac insisted on helping Kent shovel. Finally, Kent just let him have the shovel to himself because Kent wasn't doing it the way Isaac wanted to do it-yeh, PULLING the shovel all over the driveway. Isaac's got to be where the action is, if not, he MAKES the action!

He also insisted on taking off his mittens. So after 20 minutes and completely frozen hands, I finally convinced him to come in and get warm. That lasted for about another 10 minutes-then he wanted to be back outside in it again. BOYS.

I hope Santa remembers to bring a REAL snow suit for Christmas, so he can get out of his "baby snow suit" and REALLY PLAY in it. He's got the genetic make-up for a nordic skier-so maybe that's why he loves it so much?

Then last night, just to punish ourselves more with the cold, we went with our friends to the Lights at the Zoo. It was only about 18 degrees--frigid cold--but the kids were bundled up. Isaac was in his down suit in the jogger and didn't seem to be bothered a bit. All the whining came from the parents- "it's sooo cold; why didn't we wear our ski pants? How long have we been here? Have we been here long enough?" I had to laugh. We sounded like the 2-8 year olds and the kids were freezing too, but LOVED the lights. What we do for cheap thrills-in the winter- in Utah. The thing is, the Zoo Lights were beautiful! We loved them, but almost missed out because we were so distracted by the cold. We learn a lot from our kids!
